Hrayr Jebejian and his team share the Bible throughout the Gulf region. In Kuwait, they’re empowering church leaders to reach out to the country’s immense migrant population with the life-changing power of Scripture.

Migrants, who make up 70 per cent of Kuwait’s population (and more elsewhere in the Gulf), face all kinds of challenges. Hrayr said: ‘The number of people losing their jobs and committing crimes and suicide is increasing exponentially.’ Mental health problems are widespread as workers endure harsh conditions and non-payment of wages.

Hrayr and hundreds of volunteers are determined to reach these suffering communities with God’s love. ‘I want to reach out to thousands of desperate and vulnerable people with the word of God to bring love, joy, and faith to their lives by engaging them with the hope of the Scripture.’

With your help, believers passionate about mission are receiving the biblical grounding they need to reach those people desperate for hope. The team are two thirds of the way through this year’s programme of outreach seminars. Churches serving Telugu, Sinhala and Tamil-speaking communities have hosted training events for 400 participants. Sarah attended the first and she called it eye-opening.

Pastor Reddy said: ‘We feel so encouraged, as such seminars confirm our faith and strengthen us spiritually.’ He said he’ll be sharing God’s word with a renewed confidence in the awesome truth that ‘Jesus Christ is God manifested in the flesh’.

At the second seminar, Pastor Elia said: ‘Bible Society is of great help to poor churches like ours. Today’s seminar was very encouraging and helped us understand that we are important to the Kingdom of God through doing and sharing in God’s work. You are not just helping in teaching but also helping us in our outreach ministry among the farmers on the borders of Kuwait and providing us with all our needs, from Bibles to spiritual materials.’

Alongside this training programme the team will be distributing 1,000 Bibles in Amharic, Tagalog, Telugu, and Sinhala.

You can put the Bible in the hands of a migrant worker in the Gulf today. You can also help church leaders in the region write God’s word on the hearts of their congregations by supporting these training programmes. You’ll be turning desperate lives around as people engage with Scripture for the first time.
