Former art teacher gives away Psalm 23 designs

Author: Simeon Smith, 23 October 2021

Former art teacher, Jeff Street, was, like many of us, at a bit of a loss during the pandemic. So, he dug out all his old art gear and created a print depicting Psalm 23.

‘It’s a wonderful psalm, isn’t it?’ he said. ‘Coming out of the pandemic, it’s a reminder that although it’s been difficult, the Lord, our shepherd, has been with us, especially with those who have lost loved ones.’

At first, Jeff turned the 12” x 10” original into prints. He framed 30 and gave them away to anyone who he felt particularly needed to hear the psalm at that time.

His next step was jigsaws. Four were made and sent to friends across the country.

This year, coinciding with the Psalm 23 Garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, Jeff started to give away bookmarks depicting the shepherd with his sheep.

‘I’ve had wonderful reactions from people,’ he said. ‘I know people who’ve been going through a tough time with illness, and this psalm has helped them to remember that God is with us whatever we are going through.’
