The third king of Persia (around 550-485 BC) mentioned in the books of Ezra, Nehemiah, Daniel, Haggai and Zechariah. Famous for improving the infrastructure of the Persian empire, an infrastructure which in its turn influenced both the Greek and the Romans empires.
