My Bible: reasons to believe in the power of the Bible

‘I was brought up in Uganda in a Roman Catholic Church.

‘It was 1994 and I was studying in Birmingham and visiting a friend in Coventry. As I was leaving on the Sunday evening a woman ran up to me. She thought I was someone she knew. When she realised that I wasn’t she invited me anyway to the Elim Pentecostal Church that evening.

‘I decided to go because she was attractive. I headed for the pub and had a few drinks before the service.

‘I was made very welcome and that night gave my life to Christ.

‘Some time later I had a dream. There was a screen and the words, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life,” appeared on it.

‘When I woke, I remembered so vividly what I had seen. I shared it with a friend who opened his Bible at John 3.16. I thought he was joking.

‘That scripture changed the course of my life. I was studying electronics and it was my primary goal. But I decided instead to become a more equipped servant of Christ and went to theological college. Since then, I have worked in churches and now I teach training pastors in Uganda. It completely changed my life and I don’t miss the electronics the slightest bit.’
