My Bible: reasons to believe in the power of the Bible
‘I’ve had many bereavements. I have lost all my sisters and my brothers. They died. My daughter died, and my husband died two years apart. I went through it. At first, I was sad. But then the sadness went.
‘If you look at Psalm 27, it says, “The Lord is my light and my salvation”. It tells you not to fear because God is always there with you. That helped me because, if it’s a depressing day, I could ask myself, “Why are you depressed when you can call upon God?” I held onto him. That was very real for me.
‘Psalm 27 gave me the comfort I needed. Without it, I think I would be in a mental hospital. He kept me sane.
‘The rest of my life? I’m looking to go forward, not backward, in everything I do. I feel that he is there with me all the time. Every step of the rest of my life, he will be with me.’
