My wife has an auto-immune disease, Lupus

My Bible: reasons to believe in the power of the Bible

'My wife has an auto-immune disease, Lupus, so when this all started, we knew she had to be so careful. I’d just come back from a business trip, and I had to self-isolate from her within the house for 12 days. I moved into the spare room. It was awful, awful. It was very difficult for a few weeks.

'We couldn’t take chances. But we’ve come through it and we have done well, all things considered.

'I read Psalm 91 when that was happening. That’s what I meditated on. It was a comfort. It kept me praying. I’m praying every day, all the time. The psalm has given me hope that there will be an end to this and that we need to trust God. We don’t know why these things are happening, but we have to trust God. That’s really reduced my anxiety.

'It’s easy to worry, about friends dying, getting sick, my children who have left home. But this psalm says that God does love us. That’s what I hang onto. Whenever I worry, I am drawn back to this psalm.'
