It’s a year since the Psalm 23 Garden scooped awards at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. But it lives on and is bringing its own sense of calm and restoration to a very special place: Winchester Hospice.

In different ways, it offers peace, tranquillity and a place of reflection for patients, their families and the staff.

Head of Palliative Care Maddy Thomson said, ‘This garden has brought this psalm alive for people and helped them to realised what they loved about it, and which bits speak to them.

‘The beautiful flowers and the sound of the water help us to take a deep breath and go back inside and be as compassionate and kind as we have ever been,’ she added.

Hazel Southam, Psalm 23 Garden project manager said, ‘We are so delighted that the Psalm 23 Garden is giving people a living sense of God’s presence and restoration, at Winchester Hospice.

‘It was so important to us that the garden lived on after the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. It’s in a wonderful setting where it can make a difference to patients and their families in very difficult times, as well as being a restorative place for staff to take a break.’
