I gave my life to the Lord when I was 6

My Bible: reasons to believe in the power of the Bible

‘I gave my life to the Lord when I was six. But I had a period of time when I went away from God. I was in my early 20s when I moved back towards God. I struggled to accept God’s forgiveness.

‘Psalm 139 made all the difference. It talks about the God of the universe knowing us intimately, that he ordained my path in life and knew what I would be like and still loves me. That’s amazing.

‘I was alone and found out that I was pregnant. I had no idea of what I was going to do. The Lord showed me a picture. He was standing in the corner of the room. He was there, where I had never wanted him to be. That blew my mind. Wherever I was, he was there. He wanted the best for me.

‘Getting pregnant was a real wake-up call. I had never believed in abortion, yet I was starting to think about it and that surprised me. I saw how far I had gone from God. My parents were really amazing.

‘I’ve been married for 19 years now. That Psalm has always been in and out of my life. Those verses are anchors for me and I read them whatever is going on.

‘What they say, for me, is massive: wherever I go, God will still be there. I’m so grateful for that.’
