My Bible: reasons to believe in the power of the Bible
'I love Psalm 91, because, as a mum, I have been quite fretful over things. My daughter lived in New York for six months and my son was in Spain for a year at university. So, I spoke this over the kids before they went away. It was such a security.
When there was a worry, I would read it and I got peace through it. Them being away wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. But as a mum you want to be checking on them every day.
I made a decision to hand them over to God before they went away. It was difficult. I read this Psalm on a daily basis.
Honestly, I knew it would give me peace every time I read it. If I hadn’t had a phone call to say that my daughter had got home safely, I would worry. Then I would read Psalm 91 and would have immediate peace. I believed what it said.
I still have days when I worry. But the Bible is the key for me not to worry. If I have a day where I have a wobble, I remind myself of Psalm 91 again. I know it works and I go back to it.'
