My Bible: reasons to believe in the power of the Bible
'I was born here in Bethlehem. When I was a kid, about nine or ten, I went to Bible Society summer camps. That gave a message that added something to our lives. I was inspired by what I learned. What struck me was the way that people treated the kids, even though they made mistakes.
Everyone was very kind, and I felt loved. That taught me that God must love me even more. That was amazing. I always said that I wanted to be like a relative of mine who is a priest.
Then I had a dream in which a priest came to ask me and said that I had the responsibility to deliver this message. The message of the church was born here in Bethlehem. We should work to make other people understand this message.
I am training for the priesthood now and will be priested when I’m 23 or 24. I like verses from the Bible that give me hope, because we suffer sometimes, like Jesus did. I particularly like Romans 5.4, “We know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.” When I read that I know that there is hope for the future.'
