My Bible: reasons to believe in the power of the Bible
'In 2001 my husband and I did up the bathroom and we had fun doing it. We didn’t often have fun. We worked hard and were ships in the night. It was his birthday and I bought him a card with two rabbits in a bath, and inside I wrote words from Psalm 91: '"Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call on me and I will answer him”.’
Three days later, on what we now call 9/11, we had a motorbike accident. A car did a U-turn and drove into us. I had injured my cruciate ligament and had crush injuries. But David was airlifted to hospital. Two days later, when I got there, they took me into another room and said, "Get your family, your husband is going to die." I said, "What’s this all about Lord?Three days is not exactly a long life.
If I am to believe the Bible – and it spent its time on my bedside table – then this bit of it has got to be true." David was taken to another hospital and on four occasions he nearly died. He had horrible injuries. Our whole family lived in the waiting room that week and we prayed and trusted that God would give him a long life. He recovered. He had been close to death.
He had been an hour away from losing both his arms. But now he’s fine. He plays his guitar and does what he wants to do. It’s changed me and it’s transformed my marriage.'
