My Bible: reasons to believe in the power of the Bible
‘It’s good to be able to turn worry into prayer. We have to let the emotions come out somehow. Often, I don’t feel that I have words, and I just cry, but I feel that the Lord hears my cry.
‘Recently in Bible study, we studied Philippians 1.9–11. It’s Paul’s prayer for the Philippians. He says, “And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ …”
‘I pray that for those who I dearly love. You can’t go wrong in wanting to be more like Christ, can you? No matter where people are on that journey, I would say that I have prayed this for them, whether they know Christ or not.
‘This prayer has been helpful. It’s helpful to be able to use these words and they are words that I go back to. I feel that these verses are my heart’s cry. When I can’t pray and I am crying out my heart to God, this prayer is a really big prayer for me. Through it, I am praying that people’s situations will be changed.’
