Joshua 1 helps me in all the times of transition in my life.

My Bible: reasons to believe in the power of the Bible

Joshua 1 helps me in all the times of transition in my life. I left my country, Zambia, in 2006 and came here. I never had friends here, but the Lord opened a door for me to come and serve. I had to build the relationships from the ground up, but it was obvious I should come.

‘It was such a transition, stepping out into something that I didn’t know and the Lord began to speak to me to have courage in the assignment he was giving me. Joshua had to have courage for his assignment.

‘I had to have the courage that God was with me. That helped a lot. I knew I had to be determined and believe that God was with me and have the focus and determination for what lay ahead.

‘Verse 8 says, “Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.”

‘In the turbulence, when I haven’t known what to do, I have turned to the word of God for my direction. This is what I have drawn from.

‘It was exciting and fearful coming here. I have been in this country for 16 years now and the Lord has been gracious to us in our time in the UK.’
