‘My confirmation verse was Jeremiah 31.3: “The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: ‘I have loved you with an everlasting love: I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.’”

‘I was confirmed in Switzerland and that verse has been with me since I was 16. It was very special when I was given it. 

‘When I was older, I drifted a bit. When I was 49, I was bereaved and was very, very upset because I had lost my family, my roots in Switzerland. This verse reminded me that I still had roots in Jesus. It helped me to know that Jesus was with me. 

‘Now, when things are difficult, I always feel that Jesus is with me, and that’s very, very special. He has “drawn me to him” because of his “unfailing kindness”. It’s a very deep thing, God’s mercy and kindness. It’s an amazing thing.’
