My Bible: reasons to believe in the power of the Bible
‘One Scripture that has been really powerful for me is John 10.10, “I have come in order that you might have life – life in all its fullness." I became a Christian when I was 15, but I was 40 before I had a huge shift and understood this idea of life in all its fullness.
It was like stepping out of the Championship and into the Premier League. It changed my life and then it changed my business. I moved from being a strategy consultant to being a “people whisperer” as one of my colleagues puts it.
I am trying to whisper some of what I have learned through Scripture. I am just trying to embody the word of Christ as I travel with my work around the world.
I also love Isaiah 61, which says, “He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted and proclaim freedom for the captives”. That still sends shivers down my spine.
There’s a lot of that in my work now. My purpose is to release the hearts of business leaders so that they can release the hearts of their people. I’m never trying to get the Scripture in there, but when people ask, I can talk about it, though always softly and with respect.’
