My Bible: reasons to believe in the power of the Bible

'We go to New Wine most years. Last year, there was praying for “mentalness”, to help you through tough times.

I was moving to a new town and I didn’t know anyone. Someone was praying for me and they gave me the words from Revelation 21, “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

I wasn’t feeling the best, if I’m honest. I felt like everything was at home and then moving here and knowing no-one. At college I knew no-one. I didn’t want to move. It was tough. I’d been with my gym team for ten years. That was very difficult to leave them.

I had just started a relationship with someone and I had all these friends, and I had to start again. It was so rubbish. But when I heard these verses I sort of felt that God had a plan for me. I felt that this was happening for a reason, it will get easier, if it is rubbish now. And it has got easier.'

I keep coming back to John 6.67–68 where Jesus has been teaching and people are finding it hard to understand and lots of his peripheral followers are falling away.
